JANA Investment Advisers has appointed Zac Leman as general manager, wealth, as the firm moves to deepen its offering to clients, navigating growing complexity in advice and portfolio implementation.
Momentum in the wealth division has accelerated alongside demand from superannuation-adjacent clients, with around $15 billion in funds under advice or management, including more than $3.4 billion in managed accounts, underscoring the scale of the opportunity.
Structural shifts across the advice and super ecosystem have pushed clients towards institutional-quality insights, particularly as portfolio construction, governance and execution demands become more complex in retirement and accumulation phases.
Leman will lead the firm’s wealth strategy, spanning advice, investment, operational and implementation capabilities, as JANA seeks to extend its institutional expertise into the wealth channel that increasingly intersects with superannuation outcomes.
He joins from BT Financial Group, where he was head of managed accounts and direct equities, and has previously held senior roles at Mason Stevens and Next Financial, commencing the role on 4 May 2026.
The appointment follows the recent hiring of Matt Wacher as chief investment officer, reinforcing alignment between investment strategy and client delivery as the firm scales its offering across institutional and wealth segments.
“Zac’s appointment strengthens our leadership at a time when clients are seeking more sophisticated, institutional-quality capability that’s delivered to meet their needs. Drawing on his deep understanding of the wealth and advice landscape, Zac will play a key role in expanding access to our investment expertise, and delivering consistent, high-quality advice and implementation outcomes,” said Lauren O’Neill, general manager, strategy and innovation at JANA.
Leman said the firm’s positioning aligned with rising demand for more outcome-focused solutions across the evolving super and wealth landscape.
“JANA’s client-first philosophy, purpose-led approach and its depth of investment capability strongly align with how I think about delivering value to clients. The business has built real momentum in the wealth segment, and I’m excited to be joining at a time of opportunity and growth.
The wealth sector continues to evolve, with increasing demand for more sophisticated, outcome-focused solutions. I’m looking forward to working closely with clients and partners to build on JANA’s strengths and deliver advice and implementation that supports long-term value creation.”
