MUFG Retirement Solutions has partnered with Victoria University (VU) to create new employment pathways for students and strengthen workforce skills across the superannuation administration sector.
The organisations have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding aimed at connecting students with industry experience while supporting ongoing professional development for employees at MUFG Retirement Solutions, one of Australia’s administration and technology providers to the superannuation industry.
The agreement will provide training, certification and professional development opportunities for employees in areas including financial advice, cyber security, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Student placements and project-based learning opportunities will be offered across disciplines including business, accounting, financial planning, information technology, cyber security, artificial intelligence, law and project management.
The partnership will also support research projects focused on artificial intelligence, data analytics, automation, human-centred design, digital equity and technology accessibility.
Additional initiatives include pathways into casual and flexible employment while studying, internships, graduate roles, industry learning experiences and hackathons.
MUFG Retirement Solutions ANZ chief executive, Frank Lombardo, said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to workforce development and innovation.
“We are proud to announce our partnership with Victoria University, an organisation that shares our deep commitment to inclusion and opportunity. This collaboration opens the door for a dynamic exchange of ideas.
“From immersive hack-a-thons to advanced professional development, we’re investing in both students and our people through ongoing training and upskilling to ensure they remain adaptable and future-ready in a rapidly changing environment.
“By tapping into VU’s diverse talent pool and exploring ‘flipped campus’ opportunities, we are welcoming a new generation of thinkers into our business. We believe that engaging with enthusiastic students and their fresh perspectives provides the creative spark for breakthrough innovation, as we work together to create the jobs of the future.”
Under the agreement, the organisations will also explore the use of VU’s City Tower campus as part of the institution’s “flipped campus” model.
VU vice-chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker said the partnership would benefit both students and industry.
“This partnership represents a significant new step in supporting VU’s commitment to lifelong learning, industry collaboration and innovative research,” Professor Shoemaker said.
“It will give students invaluable exposure to industry knowledge, practical experience and emerging workforce trends across a range of disciplines. Importantly, this partnership also opens up pathways for students at our new campus in India, helping them build connections with global industry and creating direct links into employment,” Professor Shoemaker said.
