Van Hedge Funds Advisors of the US, the world’s largest provider of hedge funds data, has entered the Australian market by opening a Sydney office through a joint venture with consulting firm MacDonald Asset Consulting.
Called Van MacDonald Global Partners, the venture will initially offer three wholesale products — a low volatility, a global long-short equity and a diversified product — through a feeder unit trust in June. These will have access to existing offshore funds and new index strategies.
Van MacDonald Global Partners head Scott MacDonald believes that no other organisation can provide the same service, because the Van group has 10 years experience and the world’s largest hedge fund database which covers 4,000 managers.
The Sydney office is the Van group’s third full service operation. In addition to its US base, it has a London office, which it established two years ago.
