JUST upgrades insurance cover

Media industry superannuation fund JUST Super has joined the growing number of funds to negotiate improvements in their insurance offering to members.

JUST chief executive Mi Thian-De Wind said the insurance enhancements, negotiated with ING Life Limited, would deliver more death and total and permanent disablement cover for those aged between 16 and 40, increase the maximum level of cover to $2 million and pull forward payouts to those suffering from terminal illnesses.

She said the package also delivered interim accident cover to members along with worldwide cover.

Thian-De Wind said the revamped insurance offering gave good cover to members of all age groups and added a new dimension for those in young age groups.

“JUST’s insurance offer has always been strong for older members. The increased cover for members aged between 16 and 40 means younger members have access to an equally competitive offer,” she said.

Thian-De Wind also highlighted the offer’s recognition of the particular working conditions of JUST members.

“Our members work in occupations traditionally judged as risky by insurers, so this is a real win in the current, conservative underwriting environment,” she said. “For example, the occupations of both our actor and journalist members often require them to work outside Australia, sometimes in dangerous environments. Worldwide cover is of immeasurable value to them and their families.”
