BNP Paribus Investment Partners (BNPP IP) has beefed up its Asia Pacific and emerging markets team by appointing Ligia Torres to head of Asia-Pacific (APAC) and emerging markets for BNP IP and Vincent Camerlynck to chief executive of APAC.

Torres' 30-plus years of international experience most recently included a role with BNP's wealth management division where she was head of UK operations and chairman of BNPP IP UK.

Camerlynck is moving from Hong Kong and a previous role as BNPP IP's deputy chief executive. He was previously responsible for institutional sales globally from BNPP IP's head office in London.

"The success enjoyed by BNPP IP in Asia to date — as in other local markets — is a direct result of the teamwork of our sizeable workforce on the ground," said BNPP IP chief executive Philippe Marchessaux.

BNPP IP's APAC and emerging markets division manages EUR 60 billion in assets with a presence that spans 19 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan and Turkey.
