Former Australian Taxation Office assistant deputy commissioner for superannuation Stuart Forsyth has joined Brisbane-based super consultancy firm McPherson Super Consulting.
Co-founder and director of McPherson Super Consulting Allan McPherson said Forsyth will play a role in expanding the firm into Victoria and New South Wales, while building on the current client base in Queensland
McPherson said Forsyth's knowledge on self-managed super funds will come in handy for the firm.
"Stuart was involved in drafting the ATO ruling on limited recourse borrowing arrangements for SMSFs — being able to draw on his knowledge in this and other areas will be a major plus for clients," he said.
Forsyth was involved in applying the Cooper Review recommendations in the SMSF areas of the ATO's Stronger Super project, where he looked after active compliance and risk and intelligence responsibilities.
Forsyth began his role on 28 November, and has been made a company director and shareholder.
