Industry stalwarts John McMurtie and Louise Davidson have both been awarded Members of the Order of Australia (AM) General Division this Australia Day.
McMurtie received his award for significant service to the community through philanthropic initiatives and to the finance industry, while Davidson’s was for signification service to the superannuation and funds management sectors and to breast cancer research.
Davidson was currently the chief executive of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors. She was also the co-founder and national chair of the Mother’s Day Classic Walk/Run for Breast Cancer Research, which had raised over $33 million since its inception in 1998.
McMurtie had been managing director of Link Group since 2002. His philanthropic giving included support of the Chappell Foundation, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, and University of Sydney foundations, including the Veterinary Science Foundation.
