MetLife Australia has appointed Gerard McDermott as chief strategy and customer officer, effective immediately.
McDermott would be responsible for leading the strategy, project management office, customer, digital, marketing and data functions, and would report to acting chief executive officer, Vince Watt.
McDermott previously held senior roles at EML, Westpac and Suncorp, where he played a pivotal role in building the company’s commercial insurance capability, including the acquisition and integration of AMP’S general insurance distribution business.
Watt said McDermott’s track record of driving customer-led business transformations would enable him to make a major contribution to making customer needs a focus of the business.
