Industry super fund Prime Super has appointed Jacqueline Kelly as an independent director to its board.

Kelly is the fifth independent board director for Prime Super that has a majority of independent directors together with one union (Australian Workers Union) and one employer (National Farmers Federation) nominated director.

"There is a growing push in the industry to make industry super fund trustee boards more independent... Our board is already largely independent and this structure allows us to remain focussed on members' best interests," Bowman said.

Following the fund's merger with Health Industry Plan (HIP) last year, Kelly is the second director that has extensive knowledge of the health and aged care industry.

"Her commitment to ensuring all Australians have the opportunity to age well and live dignified lives as value members of the community, makes her a perfect fit for Prime Super," Alan Bowman, Prime Super chairman, said.

Kelly has 20 years of experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors and is the CEO of the Lutheran Care Community (LCC).
