Global fund manager Standard Life Investments has appointed Amanda Young as head of sustainable and responsible investment (SRI).

Young has been active in the SRI space for 15 years and is a director on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) and a member of the Market Committee Advisory Group of UKSIF. She joins from Newton Investment Management.

Standard Life Investment chief investment officer Rod Paris said the SRI area of the business had experienced growth as more clients caught on to its benefits. He said Young joined an experienced team focused on delivering its Focus on Change approach to SRI.

"We strongly believe that companies with robust environmental and social practices will enjoy long-term financial benefits and we seek to encourage such practices with a view to protecting and enhancing investments held on behalf of our clients," he said.

Standard Life recently built out its SRI team, appointing former Trucost senior research analyst Rebecca Maclean and former Generali Investments (Paris) SRI analyst Alix Chosson as SRI managers.
