State Super has appointed Deloitte partner Russell Mason as a director.
He joined the board of State Super (SAS Trustee Corporation) board earlier this month for a four-year term.
Mason had over 40 years’ experience in the superannuation industry, having worked as lead superannuation advisory partner at Deloitte and senior roles at Mercer for 24 years.
This work had included advising boards of large public sector, corporate and industry funds in areas including outsourcing, governance, insurance and strategy.
He was previously a director of the Association of Superannuation Funds Australia (ASFA) and was made a life member of ASFA in 2018.
State Super chair, Nicholas Johnson, said: “Russell has a demonstrated history of leadership in the superannuation consulting field. His decades of experience in business planning, investment strategies and governance will be a real asset in delivering for our members and stakeholders”.
Chief executive, John Livanas, added: “We’re pleased to welcome Russell to the board. He brings the right skills and experience at a time where we are seeing increasingly complex challenges in the superannuation environment”.
