BlackRock expands institutional team

Former Ascalon Capital Managers chief operating officer Jason Collins has joined BlackRock as head of institutional client business.

In addition, Prema Basoor has been appointed director, institutional client business. She was previously Fidelity Worldwide Investment associate director — institutional business.

Commencing his duties later this month, Collins will be based in Sydney and report to BlackRock Australia country head Justin Arter.

He brings with him 15 years experience in funds management and investment banking.

Basoor will report to Collins and will be responsible for BlackRock's Melbourne-based institutional clients.

Prior to joining Fidelity, she was senior account manager with State Street Global Advisors.
