Research group Lonsec Fiscal has bagged three former Investec Equities resource specialists as part of its institutional broking expansion.

The new recruits, Rod Clarkson, Tim Gerrard and Colin McLelland, were sought for their institutional and resource knowledge, which Lonsec Fiscal hopes to capitalise on in its Equity Capital Markets division.

They will primarily be concerned with resource business institutional research, equity capital market transactions for mining companies, and dealing and execution services.

"At a time when many industry participants are reducing their dealings with the mining sector, we believe this represents the perfect opportunity for Lonsec to further enhance our broking capabilities," David Wylie, CEO of Lonsec Stockbroking, said.

"Lonsec is committed to this highly relevant and extremely important sector of the Australian economy."

Prior to taking the managing director role at Investec Securities, Clarkson headed the sales desk at James Capel, Prudential Bache and BNP Paribas in London.

Gerrard worked in the equities market since 1984 and spent much of his career focused on the Australian resources market including gold, metals and diversified sectors.

McLelland, meanwhile, gained his grounding as a senior consultant for a top-tier operational consulting firm, before joining Investec as an equities analyst four years ago.
