Declining superannuation fund returns appear to be having an impact on the nature of complaints being lodged with the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT).
The latest data released by the SCT late last month revealed that while the overall number of complaints lodged with the commission had actually declined, there had been a rise in the percentage of complaints relating to fund administration.
The data showed that complaints relating to fund administration represented 63.1 per cent of all complaints received by the SCT during the March quarter.
By comparison, complaints about death benefit distributions decreased to 23.1 per cent.
The tribunal said complaints relating to disability, which had been in decline, had actually grown to 9.8 per cent of total complaints during the quarter.
