Asia drives investor confidence

Improving sentiment in Asia has again driven up the State Street Investor Confidence index.

The latest index has revealed that global investor confidence rose by 5.4 points in March to reach 108, with the driving force being Asian institutional investor confidence, which rose by 4.1 points.

The index suggests that confidence was more muted in other regions, with North America up just 0.3 points and European confidence actually declining by just under 2 points.

Commenting on the index, Harvard University professor Ken Froot said that while Asian institutional investors led the way, US investors appeared to have priced-in the increase in the discount rate by the US Federal Reserve.
