Equipsuper ups engagement campaign

Equipsuper Financial Planning has launched a ‘be yourself' communications message to help encourage members to be more comfortable seeking financial advice.

Equipsuper Financial Planning’s manager, Chris Winton, said the message was designed to help place financial planning firmly within the comfort zone of members who may feel uneasy with discussing personal details with an adviser.

“To get the most out of a financial planner, people must ‘be themselves’ and be as transparent as possible. It can be a daunting prospect to open up about your personal issues and goals, particularly when meeting an adviser for the first time,” he said.

The be yourself message was launched last week at a member forum hosted by television presenter, Kim Watkins, and featured a panel including Equipsuper Financial Planning’s Camille Giles and Equipsuper chief executive Danielle Press.

“We are hoping that the new forums enable members to better understand the positive role superannuation can play in their lives,” Winton said.

The message follows the launch earlier this year of Outperform.TV, an online audiovisual channel also designed to boost member engagement.

Around a quarter of the approximately 100 members who attended the initial forum requested follow-up from an Equipsuper financial planner.

Equipsuper Financial Planning currently employs three fulltime planners, one paraplanner and one client liaison officer, according to Equipsuper’s communications manager Geoff Brooks.

Equipsuper's financial planning arm operates under the licence of Healthsuper and was initially set up as a retention vehicle for members who have been with the fund for a long time and are approaching retirement, Brooks said.
