GESB has appointed a new chairman to replace Phil Harvey when he retires at the end of the week, with John Langoulant stepping up to the role.

Langoulant is the chief executive of Oakajee Port & Rail, as well as holding a number of other community and business roles in Western Australia.

These include being chairman of the Board of Leadership, a member of the boards of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a member of the Australian Government’s Reform Council.

Harvey will step down on 6 March, while Langoulant’s appointment will be effective from 7 March for a period of five years.

GESB has also appointed Catherine Nance to the board as the new employer director.

Nance has over 20 years experience in advising governments, companies and superannuation funds, and is currently a partner and actuary at PricewaterhouseCoopers where she heads the national Retirement Incomes and Asset actuarial consulting group.

She has also participated in a number of Institute of Actuaries’ taskforces, including being the chair of the National Retirement Income Taskforce.

GESB chief executive Michele Dolin said Langoulant’s extensive experience in the government and private sector would be invaluable to GESB as it navigated a changing environment.
