The chief executive of Schroder Investment Management Australia, Greg Cooper, has been elected as a deputy chairman of the Financial Services Council (FSC).

Cooper's election follows the recent resignation from the Board by former AllianceBernstein Australia chief executive Michael Bargholz.

Cooper has been an FSC director for three years, and also co-chairs the FSC Investment Board Committee. He has now joined the FSC's Administration and Risk Board Committee and Nominations Board Committee.

FSC chairman Peter Maher said he was pleased to see Cooper increase his involvement with the industry body.

"The Board also thanks Michael Bargholz for the enormous contribution he made to the FSC as a director and deputy chairman. He is an advocate for the financial services industry and a great contributor to progressive policy," Maher said.
