Health Super has appointed a chief governance officer, announcing this week that Gary McGrath had been appointed to the newly-created role.
Health Super chief executive Chris Clausen said McGrath had been appointed as a result of his legal background, experience as a company secretary and knowledge of superannuation, risk management and compliance.
He said McGrath’s experience in working with industry regulations had made him the ideal choice for the newly-created role.
McGrath had previously worked as a company secretary and legal counsel within a medium-sized superannuation fund. Prior to that he had spent two years with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and 10 years as a lawyer working in commercial litigation and insolvency in Western Australia.
Rest Super remains “fully committed” to equities, even as it anticipates higher market volatility than experienced in previous decades.
