The Government announced that it would be reviewing Military Super, with an independent panel having been appointed that included Mercer principal Dr as well as former public service commissioner and Air Commodore , who will advise on military matters.

However, the Federal Opposition spokesman on financial services and superannuation, Senator , joined with the shadow minister for Veterans’Affairs, , to call on the Government to “categorically rule out any change to future accrued benefits for serving (ADF) members”.

The two Opposition spokesmen pointed to the Government’s handling of Telstra superannuation where they said members of the CSSsuper scheme were obliged to transfer to another inferior fund when the big telecommunications carrier was sold.

The two Opposition spokesmen said the Government needed to guarantee that all current and former ADF members would not be left worse off after the review.
