Russell appoints Asia execs

Russell Investments has appointed several senior executives across Asia to meet anticipated business growth in the year ahead.

Edmund Teo has been appointed as regional director of sales and marketing, based in Singapore. Teo be responsible for leading business development activities for both institutional and retail clients and managing the client servicing team. He joins Russell from First State where he was responsible for sales and business development, as well as overseeing branding and marketing.

In Taiwan, Joey Chao-Yu Chen has been appointed as director of business development. He will be responsible for the organisation’s onshore activities, as well as marketing and client service. He will also work with Russell’s global operations on the development of new funds. Chen has over 17 years experience with financial companies in the region, including Morgan Stanley and Fidelity.

Both Teo and Chen will report to Mahendran Nathan, the recently appointed chief executive of operations in ASEAN, Hong Kong, Taiwan and India.

Russell has also appointed DongKi Kim to the position of chief representative of the organisation’s Korea Representative office. Kim joins Russell from Korea Life’s international investment and risk team, where he was responsible for alternative investments. He will report to Yuseok Kim, who has been promoted to director, Korea.

“These appointments are a significant step in Russell’s evolution in Asia and will help our organisation better service a growing client base … The executives join an organisation which has been strengthened by the decision to realign ourselves geographically,” said Alan Schoenheimer, Russell’s chairman for Asia-Pacific.

Russell has also hired several business development and client relationship managers for the region, most located in Singapore. The company says that resources will continue to be added over the next 12 months to keep pace with business growth.
