UniSuper has been awarded the Investment Stewardship Award at the Melbourne Financial Services Symposium.

The award, accepted by UniSuper's chief investment officer, David St John, recognises achievement in the Australian investment industry and this year gave special recognition to responsible investment and the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment.

Commenting on the award, St John attributed the success to the fund's solid foundations and attention to detail in its investment arrangements.

"We have done a lot of work over the past five years to ensure that an appropriate approach to environmental, social and governance factors is applied to UniSuper's portfolio and we are pleased to see this progress recognised," he said.
