MetLife appoints new head of group product

MetLife has appointed Stephen Sefton as head of group product, as which he will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the insurer’s group insurance product offering and capability.

In his new role, Sefton would focus on product development to help improve and complement MetLife’s capabilities in claims management, early intervention, digital experience and health and wellbeing.

Metlife’s head of reinsurance and regulatory affairs, James Carey, welcomed the experience that Sefton would bring to the insurer’s product arm.

“MetLife is the third largest provider of group insurance in the Australian market and we provide protection to approximately 2.6 milion Australians.That’s a great responsibility and we’re committed to continually evolving our products to ensure they meet the changing needs of our customers,” he said.

“I’m very pleased that someone with such a strong track record and reputation has joined us to drive the future of our group product offering.”

Sefton would come to the role with extensive super fund operations experience to the role, having spent more than a decade working with First State Super. Before that, he was manager and fund secretary for the Ampol and Caltex Group Superannuation Fund.
