Rest has promoted Marina Pasika to the permanent role of head of private markets following a comprehensive search by the fund.
She has held the role in an acting capacity since October 2025 following the departure of Simon Esposito and has worked at the fund since 2020.
Reporting to chief investment officer, Michael Clancy, she will now take on the role in a permanent capacity following a comprehensive search by the fund.
Prior to joining the $105 billion super fund, Pasika worked at Future Fund as a private equity manager and at Goldman Sachs.
Clancy said: “Marina brings strong investing credentials, a proven track record in private equity and deep experience across private markets. She has also demonstrated strong leadership capability in the role, building momentum within the team.
“Since stepping into the role on an interim basis, Marina has led the team with clarity and sound judgement, while continuing to advance our private markets strategy. I’m delighted that she is now stepping into the role on a permanent basis.”
Pasika said: “It’s a privilege to continue leading the private markets team and to build on the work underway. The focus remains on delivering strong long‑term outcomes for members through disciplined investing, strong partnerships and a clear strategic approach. I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.”
Esposito left Rest at the end of October after over a decade with the fund, including as head of private markets and deputy chief investment officer, and joined private equity and investment advisory firm CVC Capital Partners as managing director and head of client and product solutions for the firm’s Australian business.
Earlier this year, the fund promoted Rachel O’Connor to head of fixed income, credit and cash following the retirement of Tracey Duff at the end of February. She had previously served as the fund’s senior portfolio manager for fixed income since September 2023.
O’Connor joined Rest in August 2021 and has worked across the fund’s internally and externally managed assets during her tenure. Prior to joining Rest, O’Connor held portfolio management roles at U Ethical Investors, Vanguard, UBS Asset Management, ING Investment Management and ANZ Investments.
