Victoria Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) has promoted Georgina Bishop to head of property.
Effective from late October, Bishop will transition into the role to succeed Pete King who will leave after 18 years.
Bishop joined VFMC in 2023 as a senior portfolio manager with responsibility for curating and managing the organisation’s real estate portfolio. She has more than 17 years’ experience in the property industry, spanning investment and asset management, transactions, joint venture management, valuations, development, asset stabilisation, and funds and mandate management.
Mark Aarons, VFMC head of asset classes, said: “Since joining VFMC, Georgina has shown strong leadership in the Property team and helped steer the portfolio through a complex period. In addition, she brings extensive industry experience, including roles at ISPT, QIC and JLL. It is also great to promote an internal candidate to this key position in the VFMC investment team.”
Bishop commented: “I really enjoy the work we do at VFMC and our focus on delivering long-term investment returns for our clients and the State of Victoria, supported by a collaborative culture. It is a privilege to take over this role from Pete King, who over many years has created a successful team focused on investment outcomes and building strong relationships across the industry.”
Earlier this year, the fund lost its board member in Fiona Trafford-Walker who left after eight years. She subsequently joined the board of guardians for sovereign wealth fund Future Fund. Trafford-Walker has 30 years’ experience in institutional financial asset consulting and provision of institutional investment advice.
