AMP Capital has made a number of senior appointments as part of the newly created Australian Fundamental Equities team.
Lead by AMP Capital head of fundamental equities Ella Brown, the new team will involve the merger of the existing Sustainable and Capital equity teams and explore the launch of new Australian equity products to meet client demand, the company stated.
Gian Pandit and Michael Price have been appointed to the team as senior portfolio managers, Phillip Hudak will join as portfolio manager/analyst, and Ed Rayner will be seconded from AllianceBernstein for six months.
Pandit commences his duties from November, and will be responsible for further developing AMP’s long/short and concentrated fundamental equities strategies. He previously spent three years as senior portfolio manager at ING Investment Management (INGIM) and headed up the ING Extended Alpha Share Fund.
Price also joins AMP from INGIM, where he spent 17 years in a number of roles including portfolio manager for the ING Sustainable Investment Fund. Working alongside Pandit, Price will assume responsibility for the AMP Capital Sustainable Share Fund in early 2012, and build an income-focused Australian equity strategy. Meanwhile, Hudak will specialise in small/mid cap stocks after spending the past year in a related role at INGIM.
According to AMP Capital, as an additional interim resource, Rayner will collaborate with the fundamental equities team on stock, sector and domestic equity market views.
In light of the new appointments, Greg Barnes, Alvin Chan, Chu Kwa and David Berthon-Jones will leave the Capital team, while Will Riggall will leave the Sustainable team.
Commenting on the team changes, AMP Capital chief investment David Kiddie said the company was now well placed to deliver contemporary investment products and strategies to the market.
