Major administrator, Superpartners has announced four newly-created senior management positions in what it acknowledges represents a new layer of management.
The administrator has appointed Peter McNeil to the newly created post of Chief Operations Manager. Andrew Jarvis has been appointed Executive Manager, People & Organisational Development, also a new position, and John Simpson and Chris Deakin have been appointed senior managers.
McNeil is joining Superpartners from Medibank Private, where he held the roles of Chief Information Officer, General Manager for both Private Health Insurance Services and Organisational Development and, most recently, as General Manager, Southern States. During this time, McNeil was responsible for leading over 240 staff in achieving annual revenue of $1.1 billion and managing a budget in excess of $20 million. Previously, he also held senior operational management positions at Colonial Limited and Australia Post.Jarvis, Executive Manager, People & Organisational Development, is joining Superpartners from his role as Director Shared Services Human Resources with GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Australasia.
Simpson, the new Queensland Fund Relationship Manager, brings an excellent understanding of the superannuation industry to this role as well as a strong client service and business development background. He gained this experience through previous responsibilities as head of Business Development, Citistreet Australia in Brisbane and Manager,

Big public sector fund AGEST has added another staff member to its Melbourne office with the recent appointment of James Riches to the new role of member services manager.
Riches was previously a financial planner with Industry Funds Financial Planning in Darwin, where he was also AGEST’s representative. His role will focus on member education material and new member servicing initiatives.
Colin Westman has joined Rice Warner Actuaries as a senior consultant.
Westman has over 20 years experience in superannuation consulting and in management with Mercer and Watson Wyatt.
Westman’s focus at Rice Warner will be on strategic and related advice to superannuation clients, including both sponsors of standalone corporate funds and large sub-funds within industry funds and master trusts, and trustees of superannuation funds.
Commenting on his appointment, Westman said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Rice Warner Actuaries and look forward to working with their clients on their superannuation issues.”
In announcing the appointment, Rice Warner Actuaries director Ken Boag said: “Colin’s experience will allow Rice Warner Actuaries to further increase its participation in the superannuation industry. His appointment adds an important resource to our expanding team.”
State Street Corporation has announced the appointment of William Cunningham to senior vice president of fixed income research for State Street Global Markets, the research and trading arm of State Street. In this new role, Cunningham will report to Mark Marinella, executive vice president and global head of fixed income research, sales and trading for State Street Global Markets.
Earlier this year, State Street Corporation announced that it was enhancing its trading, research and analytics capabilities in fixed income. Cunningham’s appointment augments this initiative and further strengthens its position in providing the most comprehensive array of research offerings to institutional investors.
“As we continue to build our team, we’re thrilled to have Bill as part of our global leadership in fixed income research,” Marinella said. “His more than 20 years of experience will be a significant asset in our ability to provide our clients with unique insights into the global bond market. His appointment also demonstrates our ability to attract top talent.”
Prior to joining State Street, Cunningham was responsible for building and leading credit research and strategy efforts at JP Morgan Securities Corporation, Merrill Lynch & Co and FTN Financial Securities Corporation. He most recently served as chief executive officer as well as chief investment officer for Connecticut-based Breakaway Capital Advisors, LLC, a start-up credit hedge fund and independent research firm that he founded and managed.
