The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) will wait until after the Cooper Review reports next year before announcing how it intends delivering on enhanced superannuation statistics.
The regulator announced its decision to delay further consideration of the enhanced collections and data publishing last week, arguing that the Cooper Review would be examining issues surrounding the collection and publication of the data.
The regulator had been instructed by the former Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law, Senator Nick Sherry, to enhance its data collection to enable better comparability of fund performance.
APRA’s decision means it is likely to be well into the second half of next year before it even reports on the extent to which it will upgrade its statistical collections.
