Aviva Investors has appointed Matthew Woodman as senior fund manager in its global real estate team in a move the manager said is aimed at building its direct real estate presence in Australia.
Woodman will manage the proposed Australian Logistics Fund due to be launched this year and will report to Daniel McDonald, Aviva’s head of real estate fund management for the Asia Pacific.
Woodman joins Aviva after nine years at the Goodman Group where he was most recently fund manager in Sydney, and was previously director of the Goodman Hong Kong Logistics Fund.
Aviva’s Asia Pacific real estate chief executive Ian Hally said the hire reflected the manager’s desire to expand its market share and build its client offering in real estate.
Aviva has identified the Asia Pacific as a key growth region for Aviva’s global real estate business, and within that region Australia is an important investment destination for mandates, he said.
“We look forward to building long term relationships with Australian clients as they look to invest in real estate markets beyond Australia,” Hally said.
