The collapse of Ansett Airlines and the long, drawn-out battle over superannuation entitlements had its corollary in May with around $65 million in unclaimed funds being transferred to AUSfund.
AUSfund chief executive David Haynes says that while most former Ansett employees have claimed their superannuation monies, the Ansett Australia superannuation funds for ground staff and flight attendants have transferred the remaining $65 million.
He says this money represents the accounts of around 2000 former employees who haven’t responded to their former fund attempts to contact them.
Haynes claims AUSfund is the only eligible rollover fund to actively seek to reunite members with their unclaimed super and this had been the key to its selection by the trustees of the Ansett super funds.
“We will actively search to find the former members of Ansett Super Fund who may have changed their names, address and their funds,” he says.
Haynes says AUSfund has repatriated more than $150 million to its right owners over the past two years.
