Telstra subsidiary, KAZ Technology Services has scored a further breakthrough in the financial services outsourcing stakes, being appointed by ING Australia as the major provider of IT services.
The arrangement, announced this week, will see Kaz providing desktop, email, file and print services as well as mid-range system services.
Kaz had been providing the desktop, email, file and print services since 2002, but the new arrangement sees it pick up the mid-range system services which had previously been provided by IBM.
Kaz is expected to assume full responsibility for the additional services over the next six months with the total value of the contract believed to be worth $45 million over the next five years.
Announcing the move this week, ING’s chief information officer, David Spreadbury said it had followed a major review of ING Australia’s outsourced IT services.
He said ING would continue its relationship with IBM through consulting services as well as hardware and software procurement.
“Given that the outsourcing market has become increasingly competitive over recent years we expect considerable savings over the course of the contract,” he said.
