Specialist group risk insurer International Underwriting Services (IUS) has picked up a key mandate that will see it providing group life and total and permanent disability (TPD) insurance benefits to NSW ambulance officers.
The mandate follows IUS winning a tender process with First State Super and in addition to providing group life and TPD, the insurer will oversee the total disability claims process for the NSW Ambulance Service, including partial incapacity benefits provided by the service.
Commenting on the mandate, IUS Life general manager Phil Collins said the company had not only successfully met the brief of both First State Super and the NSW Ambulance Service with respect to group life and TPD but also demonstrated that it could provide a better overall process for managing disablement claims.
“We expect this to result in cost savings and efficiencies and, very importantly, improved service for ambulance officers,” he said.
