Institutional equities marketplace Liquidnet has announced two appointments in the Asia Pacific aimed at supporting growth across the region.
James Chatfield will join the Sydney office to support sales in Australia and New Zealand, while Angela Leong will lead sales efforts in Singapore.
Chatfield will report to Sam Macqueen, the director of Liquidnet Australia. He joins the company from Lazard Asset Management Pacific Co where he was responsible for trading equities in the Australian and Indian markets. Before that he worked for Lazard in London as a portfolio assistant.
Liquidnet’s head of Asia Pacific, Lee Porter, said the appointments will deliver additional value to the company’s growing member base, especially now volumes have just reached a record $4.95 billion in the first quarter of 2011.
Liquidnet began trading in Asia in 2007 in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and Japan. Trading in Australia commenced in 2008 followed by New Zealand and Malaysia in 2010.
