Mercer has appointed Cara Williams as global head of wealth management consulting.
Mercer said the appointment confirmed the company’s plan to further expand its investment business and wealth management services in Australia and overseas.
Williams, who is based in London, has been the global chief operating officer of Mercer’s Investment Consulting business for the last six years.
Before joining Mercer, Williams worked in business development and client management roles at Merrill Lynch and CDC Investment Management Corp.
The appointment comes at the same time as the announcement that Risk and Investment Advisors Australia (RIAA) and Lifespan Financial Planning have both chosen Mercer’s wealth management consulting team to support their high-net-wealth client propositions. RIAA managing director Grant Scalmer said the decision to appoint Mercer was based on the company’s recognised institutional strength expertise in global manager research.
Mercer’s head of wealth consulting in Australia and New Zealand, Brian Long, pointed to the key role the company’s wealth management consulting service offering was playing in Mercer’s investment business in Australia and New Zealand.
“The appointment of Cara Williams and recent client growth has allowed Mercer to consolidate our presence as an adviser to the wealth management industry and to provide varied and comprehensive solutions for a broad range of clients,” Long said.
