Board and Catholic education system stalwart David Hutton has been appointed the new chair of Australian Catholic Super, following five and a half years as a director and time as chair of the remunerations and nominations committee.

Hutton would replace current chair, Richard Haddock, on 1 July, as the outgoing director would have reached his 12-year maximum term on the board.

“It is a great honour and privilege to be elected to lead Australian Catholic Superannuation, a fund with a proud 38-year track record of delivering strong returns to our members,” Hutton said.

“The next few years will be challenging, not just for our organisation but for the superannuation sector generally, given likely changes to the governance of funds as a result of the Hayne Royal Commission and other industry and government initiatives.

“With its ethical and professional approach to serving members and employers, I am confident Australian Catholic Superannuation is well placed to address these challenges.”

The new chair came from a background in education, having been an educator, education officer and senior administrator in state, religious institute and diocesan Catholic schools in Queensland and New South Wales.
