BNP Paribas Global Equities and Commodity Derivatives (GECD) has continued the realignment of its core sector equity research, appointing Ken Chen to head of equity research, Asia Pacific.
Chen's role will encompass working with the team of sector heads to develop research, with a greater focus on key regional investment themes and companies with deeper liquidity and larger market capitalisation.
Chen has been the company's chief executive officer at BNP Paribas Taiwan Securities for the last two years.
GECD's bank's advisory rankings at key global institutional investment managers have improved significantly under Chen's leadership, it said.
Chen also had a five-year stint at UBS, initially managing the Taiwan equity business and equity research team for three years, before turning his attention to managing the China A-share equities business.
He has also held the role of head of equity research, Taiwan for both Deutsche Bank and CLSA.
Chen will be based in Hong Kong and report to head of cash equity Asia Pacific and emerging markets EMEA, Lee Cook.
