MetLife Insurance announced it has appointed AIA's Tim Tez to the newly-created role of chief product and marketing officer.

It comes as the firm looks to drive innovation and "customer-oriented protection solutions", CEO of MetLife Deanne Stewart said.

Tez has over 14 years' experience in the life insurance industry, which includes working for AIA since 2010, where he was chief marketing officer and led the product, business development, pricing, marketing and vitality teams.

He previously worked at AXA Australia as head of product management, and held roles with TAL, TOWER Australia and PrefSure/Lumley before that.

MetLife Insurance also announced two other appointments to its Australian leadership team, including Luke Banfield, who joined the firm as chief operating officer last month, replacing Michael Henderson, who left the company.

Banfield has 20 years' experience in the financial services industry and has held leadership roles in insurance and superannuation operations, business transformation and strategic relationship management.

He has worked at TAL, SuperPartners and Colonial.

Paul Bennett joined MetLife earlier this month as head of marketing and client experience. He has previously worked for Sapient Nitro as vice president and national managing director.

He has also worked at EuroRSCG, BBDO Proximity and LoweWorldwide.
