Global custodian, Northern Trust has appointed long-standing executive and head of client services in Australasia, Sally Surgeon as head of its recently-opened Sydney office.

Surgeon began her new role on 1 June and is responsible for all aspects of Northern Trust’s growing Sydney office, including supporting various industry, client and consultant relationships in the city.

The announcement said Surgeon would continue to report directly to Northern Trust’s Australasian region head, Madeleine Senior.

Northern Trust announced it had established its second office in Australia following its acquisition of Aviate Global last year.

Commenting on Surgeon’s appointment, Senior said there had been increasing demand for Northern Trust’s range of institutional-level asset servicing and asset management solutions.

“Sally has been instrumental in growing our client base across the region and we are delighted to appoint her to lead our Sydney office where, drawing on her experience, she will focus on continuing to deepen relationships with our clients and the industry and drive momentum for our expanding business,” she said.
