NGS Super has announced the appointment of Carson McNamara as head of strategic partnerships to lead its newly created team of strategic partnership managers.

McNamara, previously a national manager for adviser partnerships at AustralianSuper for almost five years, will be responsible for driving the growth of membership and funds under management through acquisition of new employer default arrangements.

Bringing over two decades of experience to the role, his résumé also includes head of sales growth – corporate superannuation at NAB, regional wealth executive with NAB Financial Planning, and corporate relationship manager with MLC.

McNamara will be joined by Leanne Nunn as senior strategic partnership manager, based in Perth.

Nunn will be responsible for leading partnership development in Western Australia as well as facilitating education sessions and seminars for members.

She made the move from Catholic Super, where she was a relationship manager for over six years.

She brings more than 33 years of industry experience to the role, having previously worked for Hostplus, NAB, and AMP.

NGS chief executive, Natalie Previtera, said she was delighted to welcome the group of accomplished professionals to the team.

“These appointments underline our commitment to responsible and meaningful growth.  As a leading super fund for education professionals our aim is to provide employers and members with personalised services that are deeply relevant to them,” she said.

“These appointments will help us strengthen our strategic partnerships and our client service offering which are critical to our growth strategy.

“The expertise and experience that has been added to the team will be directed towards enhancing and safeguarding our members’ financial futures.”

The $14 billion fund has also appointed Sophie Harris as client service manager, based in Melbourne.

Harris is a superannuation specialist who works with members, schools, and staff to keep them well-informed and supported on all aspects of superannuation. She has previously worked at LUCRF Super, legalsuper, and CareSuper.

NGS has seen a number of senior appointments in recent months, bringing on CEO Previtera in a permanent capacity in June after she was holding the role in the interim for some nine months.

In July, the fund’s chief strategy officer, Ben Facer, was named deputy CEO while Philippa Minney joined as chief risk officer and head of corporate services.
