The first Federal minister with exclusive responsibility for superannuation, Nick Sherry, is set to join Ernst & Young as a senior advisor to its superannuation practice, after resigning from the Senate weeks ago.
Sherry will work closely with the firm's national superannuation leader, Maree Pallisco, to assist clients in dealing with the key challenges and opportunities they face in the current market.
He will also serve as an adviser to the practice globally, with a specific focus on the developing markets of Asia-Pacific.
Sherry was the first ever Australian minister to have exclusive responsibility for superannuation, having been appointed Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law in 2007.
He was also Assistant Treasurer and most recently held the positions of Minister for Small Business and Minister Assisting Deregulation and Public Sector Super.
"Nick is well versed in developments in the international pension sector, having closely studied the systems of the United Kingdom, United States and key European jurisdictions such as Switzerland," said Graeme McKenzie, Ernst & Young Oceania asset management leader.
"Nick brings with him a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the Australian superannuation system."
