Rollover generally looks forward to the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) conference as an opportunity to get out of the office for a few days and see a few friends and contacts in the superannuation industry face-to-face.
Thus, the 2016 conference on the Gold Coast with the golf day at Sanctuary Cove fulfilled all Rollover’s requirements with respect to conferences – balmy weather, good golf courses, and easy access to better than average restaurants.
However, the 2017 ASFA conference will be held in Rollover’s home-town of Sydney at the newly-opened International Convention Centre and your always-busy correspondent has been left wondering whether the vibe will be the same, notwithstanding Sydney’s plethora of excellent restaurants and golf courses such as NSW, Royal Sydney and The Lakes.
What is more the conference will start in November and end in December, which is decidedly late in terms of Rollover’s calendar of events.
Rollover suspects that while the Super Review bean-counters will be happy with the reduced travel and accommodation costs, he like many of the Sydney-based delegates, will be spending a lot more time in the Super Review offices than he would like.
In other words, while Rollover loves the Emerald City he is urging a return to warmer climes in 2018.
