New Zealand Superannuation has this week announced another mandate with the appointment of US-based Sterling Johnston Capital Management to manage a second US small-cap growth mandate.
Sterling Johnston will handle an initial allocation of $NZ45 million, with the Board of Guardians of the big superannuation fund claiming the appointment complements that of Numeric Investors announced in May, which presently manages $NZ103 million.
Describing Sterling Johnston’s credentials, the Board of Guardians said that the company invests in under-followed companies experiencing a dramatic acceleration in earnings and revenue growth.
The appointment of Sterling Johnston brings the total number of external investment managers retained by New Zealand Superannuation to 16.
