HOSTPLUS’s new board, now approved by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, consists of new faces with only two of the previous union directors remaining.
Three directors each from the Australian Hotels Association (AHA), the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union (LHMU), and three independent directors sit on the board.
The chair is retiree Michael Keogh, previously deputy president of the Industry Relations Committee. Other independents include John Burge, who sits on the Finsuper and Care Super boards, and Barry Watchorn, chair of the Australian Retirement Fund and deputy chair of CARE Super.
Employee representatives from LHMU are Victorian state secretary Brian Daley, assistant national secretary Tim Ferrari and industrial officer Robyn Buckler. Employer representatives are Taverner Hotel Group CEO John Nicholson, Hotel & Leisure Management director Mark Robertson, and AHA (NSW) president John Thorpe.
