Threadneedle has appointed James Wesley as director, institutional clients, for its Australasian business.
Wesley will be responsible for building and managing relationships with key institutional and third party clients, and will report to Threadneedle’s head of Australasian distribution David Chinnery.
Chinnery said the appointment was significant for Threadneedle’s growth in Australia and New Zealand.
Australian investors will increasingly look to allocate a higher proportion of assets to offshore funds, and Threadneedle as an international active house was looking forward to introducing Australian investors to these markets, he said.
Wesley has spent the past eight years working in the UK funds management industry, most recently for Threadneedle where he managed the growth of major third party distribution partners including Zurich, AXA, Nationwide, Prudential and Skandia, Chinnery said.
